The first step is to come in for a medical grade pregnancy test. If it is positive, the nurse may do an ultrasound. The ultrasound is a precautionary step, and necessary before any procedure. It will show the accurate gestational age of your pregnancy. It will also show possible signs of miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy, which would indicate the pregnancy isn’t viable.

Depending on the ultrasound results, you may not even need an abortion or the abortion pill as you may be miscarrying naturally. Approximately 25% of pregnancies end in miscarriage on their own.
